We have to use uname command to print certain system information including kernel name.
[oracle@testdb64 ~]$ uname -r
2.6.18-194.el5
Another way to find out the kernel version
[oracle@testdb64 ~]$ cat /proc/version
Linux version 2.6.18-194.el5 (mockbuild@ca-build10.us.oracle.com) (gcc version 4.1.2 20080704 (Red Hat 4.1.2-48)) #1 SMP Mon Mar 29 22:10:29 EDT 2010
[oracle@testdb64 ~]$
[oracle@testdb64 ~]$ uname -r
2.6.18-194.el5
