How to update Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean XXBNC1 firmware for Galaxy Core i8262

Pre-Requisites:
  • Make sure you have charged the battery of your phone at least upto 60% so as to avoid the risk of interruption during the Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean XXBNC1 firmware
flashing process. You may use apps like Battery Notifier for the same.
  • Backup your entire data and settings including contacts, sms/mms, apn settings, call logs, memos etc. and copy them on your PC for more safety. You may use this Super Backup app for the same. Don’t ignore this step else you’ll not be able to get back your data once you flash the firmware. All this is much essential as in the last step of this procedure you need to wipe all the data and cache currently present on your phone memory.
  • Enable USB debugging mode on your Phone by following the path Menu->Settings->Applications->Development->USB debugging.
  • Check that you’ve installed mobile specific drivers on your PC so as to detect the phone when you connect it to PC. You can install them from the Samsung Kies CD which you’ve got at the time of purchase. Or just manually install them from link given below.
  1. Windows 32 bit (x86) Drivers.
  2. Windows 64 bit (x64) Drivers. (Note: Though the Drivers are mentioned for Galaxy S, they can still be used for any Galaxy Device).
  • You must disable all the security tools as well as antivirus that are installed on your PC temporarily. They may increase the risk of interruption during the flashing process.

Procedure to update Samsung Galaxy Core i8262 to Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean XXBNC1 firmware:

Download Files:
  1. Download Odin 3.09 for Samsung Galaxy Core i8262.
  1. Download Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean XXBNC1 firmware for Samsung Galaxy Core i8262.
Procedure:
Step 1: After successfully downloading both the zip files, extract them in a specific folder on PC.
Step 2: Now completely switch off your Galaxy Core until it vibrates.
Step 3: Enter into downloading mode now. For doing so, keep pressing and holding ‘Home Button (middle button) + Volume down key + Power Button’ simultaneously until you see a warning message. Press Volume Up to continue. This will directly land you into downloading mode.

Step 4: Keeping the device in downloading mode itself, connect it to PC using USB cable.
Step 5: Now launch ‘Odin Multi Downloader v3.09′ software which you’ve just downloaded and extracted. As soon as you open it, the ID:COM section of Odin (located at top left corner) will turn blue. Also an Added message will appear in the message box window. This will confirm that the connection between PC and phone has been established successfully. But if such thing doesn’t happen then it’s more likely to be problem with the device drivers. So immediately check whether device specific drivers are properly installed on your PC or not. You can install them via Samsung Kies or manually install them from the links given in Pre-Requisites.

Step 6: Now, tick against ‘AP’ button and navigate to the tar.md5 file from the firmware package & select it (The firmware file will look something like: I8262XXBNC1_I8262ODDNC1_INS.zi.tar.md5). Wait till Odin verifies the md5 hash. If it’s successful then there won’t be any warning message.

Step 7: Tick the Auto Reboot option and F.Reset option located on the Odin window. Do not tick or un-tick any other option. Remember that ticking Re-Partition option may brick the phone. Don’t forget to take these crucial precautions before going ahead.

Step 8: After attempting everything as mentioned above, start the process by clicking on the Start button present on the Odin window. Your phone will automatically reboot itself when the process goes on. Do not remove USB cable until the process completes, as this may interrupt it.

Step 9:  Be patient as the process will hardly last for few minutes. As soon as it completes, you’ll see that the ID:COM section on the Odin window is turned green with the message ‘Pass’ below it. This will confirm that you have properly flashed the Official Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean XXBNC1 firmware on your Galaxy Core GT-i8262. You may now disconnect your phone by safely removing the USB cable.
Note: If the process fails or if Odin gets stuck or in case your device gets boot loops, then close the Odin window, remove battery from your Galaxy Core and re-insert it. Again go into downloading mode and follow the same procedure as given above.
Step 10: After completing the process successfully, boot the device into recovery mode by holding Volume Up key + Home button (Middle button) + Power button simultaneously until the recovery mode appears.
Step 11: In the recovery mode, navigate to the ‘Wipe data/factory reset’ option followed by the ‘Wipe Cache partition’ option & select them to clear all the data and caches from your phone memory.
Step 12: Then go back to the main menu and restart the phone by selecting ‘reboot system now’ option.
Note: If you face any problem while installing this firmware then you may flash this Deodexed (.zip) ROM. It is based on baseband version I8262DXAMF1. For flashing it, just boot into recovery by holding Volume Up key + Home button (Middle button) + Power button simultaneously until the recovery mode appears. Then wipe data/cache and flash this zip ROM.
